Sands China Ltd held a farewell ceremony on Sunday for 300 medical professionals from Guangdong Province who assisted with Macaus three-day mass COVID-19 testing blitz last week.
The professionals, who arrived thanks to the coordination of the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples Government in the Macao SAR, were supported by Sands China throughout their stay.
They contributed to the more than 716,000 COVID-19 tests administered at 41 sites across the city from Wednesday to Saturday. As reported by IAG, all tests returned a negative result.
Around 100 guests attended Sundays ceremony, where the medical professionals were given gift bags as a token of appreciation for their hard work.
The guest list included Ao Ieong U, secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR; Yan Zhichan, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples Government in the Macao SAR; representatives of the Guangdong medical team; Chai Hongliang, deputy director of the Zhuhai Health Education Office; Song Li Hong, director of the general office of the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples Government in the Macao SAR; Wan Su Cheng, director general of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples Government in the Macao SAR; Alvis Lo Iek Long, director of the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR; and Dr Wilfred Wong, President of Sands China Ltd.
In response to a potential outbreak, the Macao SAR government acted swiftly and decisively to launch a series of emergency measures, which has won public support from all sectors of society, said Dr Wong.
